Hello and welcome to all WestJet workers. By considering joining the IAM, you are choosing a union with one of the longest and storied histories in Canada and North America.

We started in Stratford, Ontario in 1890, and now have more than 128 years of experience representing Canadians.

Can I sign people up on company property?

Yes you can.
But make sure it’s on your own time.

Can I talk about Union matters openly with another employees at break, lunch time or before or after work?

Yes. Your right to free speech is protected. However, that right does not entitle you to disturb work operations.

If another employee comes to me during working hours and asks to sign up to the Union, what should I do?

Tell them you’ll do it after work or at lunch time.

What does the IAM have to do with WestJet workers?

At the request of many WestJetters, the IAM has started accepting signed membership cards from you and your co-workers. The IAM is the largest union in the airline sector and at Canadian airports. We have been representing Canadians since 1890.

Who are other airline and airport workers represented by the IAM?

We represent Customer Service Agents (CSA), Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME), Pilots, Flight Attendants, Licensed Vehicle Technicians, Millwrights, Screening Officers, groomers, fuelers and many more. We know airlines and airports – and they know us!

Which other airlines does the IAM represent?

We represent Air Canada, Air TransAT, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Air Wisconsin, Bahamasair, El Al, United Airlines, American Airlines, ExpressJet Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Norwegian Air International/OSM, PSA Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Spirit Airlines. We know airlines – and airlines know us!

Which Union should I join?

The answer is quite clear – Join the IAM! We are the largest Union in the airline sector, as well as the largest union at the airport, and we’ve been representing Canadians since 1890.

"We've already noticed changes - not good ones - in our work lives. Those little things that made WestJet a special place are turning for the worse (Anonymous, for obvious reasons)

"Pilots and Flight Attendants are unionised. Why not us?"

Who’s protected?

"Flight Attendants and Pilots have union protection. We have none. When they start making cuts, who do you think they'll come after?"
